KEYS Mentoring (Keep Encouraging Youth toward Success)
Building Relationships and Sparking Hope, One Student at a Time.
Now Accepting NEW mentors! Apply HERE
The turning point in many of our lives came when someone we respected and admired declared, "I believe in you." A KEYS mentor can be that person for a Katy ISD student. They are guides, teachers, coaches, listeners, role models, advocates, cheerleaders, and more.
The KEYS Mentor Program matches a caring adult with a student on the brink of success once a week for thirty to forty-five minutes during the school day. Our primary focus is on relationship building rather than tutoring, although we've found that increased student academic success often occurs.
KEYS is offered at every Katy ISD campus, each of which has a staff liaison who oversees the school's program. All mentors must make a one school year commitment to a student and complete an application and background check.
Steps to Become a KEYS Mentor- Commit to spending time with a student each week for one school year.
- Review, understand and agree to KEYS program expectations.
- Complete the comprehensive KEYS mentor application and pass the required background check.
- Complete KEYS 101 - New Mentor Training (either in person or online).
