          • COMMERCIAL DRIVERS LICENSE (CDL) CERTIFICATION AT RAINES ACADEMY

            Beginning next fall, Katy ISD will offer a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Student Training and Licensing Program to rising 11th grade students turning 18 and interested in obtaining a CDL. The Raines Academy CDL program will provide training and licensing for Class A (no additional endorsement) or Class A with a Class B Passenger/School Bus Endorsement. Students who would like more information about this program are requested to complete this survey and will be contacted by campus college and career facilitators with details. Please scroll to the Secondary Students section below for more information regarding the launch of the Raines Academy CDL program.

          • SUMMER LONE STAR DUAL CREDIT COURSES AT RAINES ACADEMY   

            Lone Star College is offering three dual credit courses this summer at Raines Academy. Government and Economics will be offered in a hybrid format. College Algebra may be offered face to face. All Katy ISD high school students may take advantage of this opportunity. The student deadline to enroll in summer courses is Friday, March 24, 2023. Below are key materials required to enroll:

          • SAT School Day Results  

            Students who took the SAT School Day on March 1, 2023 will be able to view their scores and score report on Friday, March 24 in their College Board Account. If students do not have a College Board, they will need to create an account. No paper score reports will be available. Information on how to interpret the details in your score report is found on the College Board website

            The College Board has partnered with Khan Academy® to provide free SAT online practice. Students can use their PSAT/NMSQT ® score report to get a personalized SAT study plan and personalized practice from Khan Academy®.

          • STUDENT WORK PROGRAM

            Students attending Raines Academy may take advantage of the flexible school day scheduling to also obtain employment with Katy ISD as a temporary student worker in either the Communications, Technology or Operations departments. Students taking advantage of this paid, employment opportunity will have access to transportation to their work location, a work schedule that is designed around their class schedule and the skills and experience to be a top candidate for full-time employment with Katy ISD following high school graduation. For more information about this exciting program, Raines students may contact the College and Career Facilitator, Norma White normajwhite@katyisd.org who coordinates the Student Work Program.

          • 2022-2023 INDO-AMERICAN SCHOLARSHIP 

            The Indo-American Charity Foundation (IACF) is a non-profit charitable organization. This year, they are awarding $1000-$2000 scholarships to graduating Seniors in the Greater Houston Area.  

            Students are required to submit a resume, transcript and a 300-word essay to apply. Students should send completed materials to Remona Clark, College and Career Specialist at remonalclark@katyisd.org. The deadline is March 15, 2023. 

            Essay Topic: Share your career objectives, extracurricular activities and how you plan to make a difference in the world around you.
