Gerald D. Young Agricultural Sciences Center

  • The Office of Career and Technical Education is excited to expand the Agricultural Sciences Facility located at 5801 Katy Hockley Cut Off Rd., Katy, TX 77494. This modernized structure was planned with the growth of Katy ISD students in mind, as well as the growing expectations for student preferences as the state graduation requirements are realized. The Agricultural Sciences Facility includes purposefully designed show arena, pavilion, project center, pond, and rodeo arena. Use of the newly designed facility will support student interests as aligned with HB 5 for the Business & Industry endorsement, and supports the Agricultural, Food, & Natural Resources Career Cluster, including horticulture, aquaculture, and livestock production.

The new facility will not only house FFA student projects and host our annual FFA student livestock show, but students across the district, at all grade levels (K-12), will get to experience hands-on learning opportunities as they relate to the many facets of agricultural education. From the eco-pond and garden to the research classrooms, students will ultimately be able to learn first-hand plant and animal life systems, as well as research diseases and parasites that impact both. This facility supports the belief that real-world experiences serve as the best learning experiences for students.

The Katy ISD Agricultural Sciences Facility will officially open in February 2019 to coincide with the 76th Katy Rodeo. While the Rodeo Arena and Show Barn will be substantially complete, work will be continuing on the remainder of the site through the spring of 2019. We anticipate our facility will be complete and ready for potential rental agreements beginning September of 2019.
