Truancy Prevention Measures for Katy ISD

Compulsory Attendance Notification 1

Parent/Guardian will receive Warning Letter 1 once student reaches 3 unexcused absences within a four week period

Compulsory Attendance Notification 2

Parent/Guardian will receive Warning Letter 2 once student reaches 6 unexcused absences within a six month period

Attendance Improvement Plan

Students acquiring 8 unexcused absences in a six month period will be placed on an Attendance Improvement Plan (AIP)

Failure to Attend School Letter

Parent/Guardian will receive an FTA Letter once student reaches 8 excused absences within a six month period or 5 or more consecutive absences

Compulsory Attendance Notification 3

Parent/Guardian will receive Warning Letter 3 once student reaches 10 unexcused absences within a six month period

Court Referral

Parent and/or Student is referred to court at 13 unexcused absences following the failure of Attendance Improvement Plan

Home Visits

Home visits will be conducted at the discretion of the campus. Schools are encouraged to make home visits when contact attempts have been unsuccessful, when the welfare of a student is in question, or when a request is made by campus personnel.
