Laurie Abrahamson

My name is Laurie Abrahamson. I am so happy to be a Dragon teaching fifth grade math this year. I grew up in Ohio and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education. I hold certifications in EC-8th grade, SPED for the Hearing Impaired, and ESL. I have taught many grade levels, but love 5th grade most of all. My husband and I just celebrated 25 years of marriage. I have two children, a daughter working on her master’s degree, and a son who is a junior in college. Rounding out my family is my pup Tucker. In my free time I love making things such as t-shirts and wreaths, swimming, traveling to the mountains, and spending time with my family. I am excited to build a classroom community where being a mathematician is FUN!

Laura Baughman

My name is Laura Baughman and I am so excited to be part of the KDE family as a 5th grade literature teacher. This is my 13th year in education and I couldn’t imagine myself doing anything else! I grew up going to Katy ISD schools myself, and am proud to be part of this amazing community! I hold my masters degree in education from Texas State University in San Marcos! Eat ‘em up cats! I have 2 wonderful children of my own, Peyton 8 and Reid 7 who are the light of my life! I can’t wait for an amazing year with all of our dragons!

Julie Connett

My name is Julie Connett. I am very excited to be teaching 5th grade Math this year. I have been a proud Dragon for 5 years, and both my children attended this school. I am from Chicago, IL and moved to Houston in 2018. I graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. I am a proud mom of 2. In my free time I love to read, spend time with my family, go to the theater, and anything outdoors. I am very excited to get to know you this year and building a strong classroom community!

Sarah Feese

Hi! My name is Sarah Feese, and I am excited to be a new KDE Dragon! I grew up in a small town and moved to Houston in 2012. This will be my 8th year in education, and my 6th year in Katy ISD. I graduated from the University of Houston with my Bachelor's Degree in Education. Developing readers to love reading is one of my many passions. I am a proud mom to my 3 year old twins, so when I am not at school, I am chasing them around! In my free time I love to read, spend time with my husband and children, walk my dog, and go to Starbucks.

Sakennia Reed

My name is Sakennia Reed and I am proud to be a new KDE Dragon! I am from Killeen, TX by way of Dallas, TX and am so excited to be living in the great city of Katy! I received a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Studies from Prairie View A&M University and Master's Degree in Education Administration from Lamar University. This will be my 12th year in education, and I believe it a true honor to create a community of learners and to nurture an excitement for education. I will be getting married this fall and will be gaining 3 beautiful bonus children! In my spare time I enjoy reading, shopping, and watching movies.

Jennifer Simpson

My name is Jennifer Simpson and I love being a KDE Dragon! This is my fourth year teaching in 5th grade (after teaching off and on in various grades and districts for 10) and I'm excited to be adding social studies to my math and science repertoire. I'm originally from Louisiana and love "passing a good time" inside and out of the classroom. I love spending my free time reading, traveling, watching movies, and hanging out with my two adult children and my 9 year-old bulldog! I also love everything Disney and cheering on the Houston Astros!

Todd Stapleton

My name is Todd Stapleton. This is my tenth year in education. I graduated in 2007 with a B.A. degree in Broadcast Journalism from Huntington University in Huntington, Indiana. I spent the next eight years as a local news producer before ending up in Houston. I come to Davidson from Morton Ranch Elementary where is spent two years as a 4th grade Math/Science teacher followed by seven years as a Science Lab Facilitator for 3-5 grade students. I love science and I love to share my passion with all students (even if they aren't in my class!) I'm so excited to be back in the classroom this year in my neighborhood school! In my free time, I enjoy watching my son play baseball, dancing with my daughter, backpacking, and spending time with my wife Jenn. I look forward to getting to know the Davidson community this year.

Deidre Zawistowski

My name is Deidre Zawistowski. You can call me Ms Z. I am excited to be in 5th grade this year teaching Science and Social Studies. I graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Biochemistry. I have been teaching for over 15 years - from pre-K, special education, and even junior high. I have been at KDE since 2016. My motto is, "It is ok to be messy and make mistakes!" I love learning and helping kids discover new things. I met my husband while at UH. Go Coogs! I have three adult children. In my free time I have fun reading, hiking, playing with my dog, taking care of my fish.
