    The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) is a standardized academic achievement test designed to measure the extent to which a student has learned and is able to apply the defined knowledge and skills in the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) at each tested grade, subject, and course.

    PRACTICE / PRÁCTICA

    ALL STAAR exams now take place in an online testing system. Students may practice with the onlne Cambium testing platform at any time.

    Some released tests and practice sets are available in the online testing environment as practice tests! You can practice from home!

    It is very important for all students to learn how to use the wonderful resources available INSIDE an online exam like: sticky notes, highlighting tools, cross out, and more.

    TODOS los exámenes STAAR ahora se realizan en un sistema de evaluación en línea. Los estudiantes pueden practicar con la plataforma de pruebas Cambium en línea en cualquier momento.

    MDJH will follow an alternate bell schedule on all 8 testing dates.

    Students who are not testing will follow their regular schedule. Their classroom may be moved to another location. Class location moves will be posted on walls in the building the day of that test. Teachers will also be communicating their room change to students. There will be personnel in the hallways to assist students in finding where they should be each period.

    If a student has a class where the teacher is involved in testing that day, the student will go to a displacement room for that period. Again, there will be personnel in the hallways to assist students in finding where they should be each period.

    MDJH will be a “closed campus” for all 8 test dates.

    Parents of ALL STUDENTS, please do not schedule appointments for students on a testing day during the times listed below as the campus will be CLOSED.

    Closed means that attendance passes will not be issued from the attendance office that morning for students in any grade level, even if they are not testing on that date.

    We will not be holding any parent meetings on those days. There will be no parent volunteers allowed in the school during closed campus times.

    If you deliver anything to campus, it cannot be delivered until 6th period.

    A student who is testing cannot leave the testing room until the entire room is finished. Students will not be permitted to leave their testing room after they have finished their test so that they are not disturbing the other testers.

    Thank you for respecting this guideline. Our first priority is always the safety of our students. Our attendance clerk and office staff are busy each period on testing dates accounting for each and every student on campus in their adjusted location and we need to keep them focused on that task. Thank you so much for understanding and making allowances.

    Closed campus dates/times:

    April 9 – Closed until 1:55 pm

    April 10 – Closed until 1:55 pm

    April 11 – Closed until 1:55 pm

    April 17 – Closed until 1:55 pm

    April 18 – Closed until 1:55 pm

    April 23 – Closed until 1:55 pm

    April 24 – Closed until 1:55 pm

    April 25 – Closed until 1:55 pm

    MDJH será un “campus cerrado” para las 8 fechas de prueba.

    Padres de TODOS LOS ESTUDIANTES, no programen citas para los estudiantes en un día de examen durante los horarios que se enumeran a continuación, ya que el campus estará CERRADO.

    Cerrado significa que no se emitirán pases de asistencia en la oficina de asistencia esa mañana para los estudiantes de cualquier nivel de grado, incluso si no están tomando el examen en esa fecha.

    No realizaremos ninguna reunión de padres esos días. No se permitirán padres voluntarios en la escuela durante el horario de cierre del campus.

Nuestro secretario de asistencia y el personal de la oficina están ocupados cada período con las fechas de los exámenes, contabilizando a todos y cada uno de los estudiantes en el campus en su ubicación ajustada y debemos mantenerlos enfocados en esa tarea.     REMINDERS:

    TESTING ROOM ASSIGNMENTS:

    Testing room assignments will be posted in hallways and shown in 8th period the afternoon before each test date.

    Students need to bring the following items to each test:

    • Two #2 pencils
    • A book to read when they are finished testing. (a novel, NOT a textbook or any other instructional materials)

    Parents:

     

    Beginning with the 2023-2024 STAAR testing, you will have a new process to access state testing student results in the TEA Family Portal.  KISD has made it easier by incorporating a single sign in using MYKATYCLOUD.

     

    If you would like to see your child’s full STAAR Report Card from Spring 2023 or past years, please go to the KATY ISD ASSESSMENT WEB PAGE for directions.

     

    State testing student results are available in the TEA Family Portal to retrieve them. 

    Parents will need to utilize their student’s Unique Access Code or follow the directions to automatically access the state testing results using MYKATYCLOUD.

    The new and improved redesigned CSR (STAAR Report Card) will include new performance labels. Parents may review a short video, additional resources, and the release timeline on the new STAAR report card, also known as STAAR confidential student report (CSR) TEA website .
