About Katy High School

  • School Colors: Red and White
    School Mascot: Tigers

A long and proud tradition of excellence characterizes Katy High School. Generations of Katy residents, including many current faculty members, have graduated from the district's original high school, which celebrated its 100th birthday during the 1998-99 school year.

Katy High School's comprehensive curriculum provides outstanding opportunities for students regardless of interest or academic level: advanced placement and PAP classes, dual credit courses, fundamental courses, and a variety of career/technology preparation classes.

Part of KHS's proud tradition is the sense of community created by a high level of student involvement in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and organizations. Among them are competitions such as Academic Challenge, Academic Decathlon and Academic Octathlon; enrichment activities such as Close Up; clubs in special interest areas like computer science, geography, foreign languages, statistics; service groups like the Good Sportsmanship League, DARE Role Models, Best Buddies, Interact and Peer Mentors; academic-area groups including yearbook, newspaper, art history, photography, cooking, chess and creative writing; career-oriented groups for future farmers, teachers, business persons, health occupations; and National Honor Society.
