• Course Selection Information for the 2024-25 School Year

     

    Course Selection Timeline

    All course requests will be entered through SchooLinks, and students must log in to their MyKaty Cloud to access the SchooLinks tile. 

    • Incoming Jordan Warrior Course Selection Night-January 18th @ 6:30 pm at the JHS Performing Arts Center. There will also be a CTE & Elective fair prior to the presentation starting at 5:30. 
    • February 5th-February 19th: Course Planner opens through SchooLinks. Counselors will meet with all students individually to review course requests in SchooLinks Course Planner 2/6-3/8. 
    • March 20th-28th: Course Verification Window 
      • Parents will receive an email from SchooLinks with a link to view, approve or leave a comment on their student's course planner. If you do not receive an email from SchooLinks, you can access the SchooLinks tile in MyKaty Cloud. 
      • Please give clear instructions on what to drop & add to your child's course selection, and your child's counselor will send a message through SchooLinks once the change has been made.  

     


     

    Dual Credit

    Please review the Dual Credit presentation for information regarding fees and other dual credit requirements.

    The Dual Credit deadlines are:

    •  Summer courses - March 1st at 3 PM
    • Fall/Spring courses - March 22nd at 3 PM 

     


     

    Miller Career and Technology

    • MCTC Preview Nights:
      • High School Preview Night-January 17th @ 6-7:30 pm
      • Junior High School Preview Night-January 29th @ 6-7:30 pm
    • High school students are responsible for submitting a MCTC Course Request and MCTC application. A link and instructions can be found on the MCTC website.
    • Counselors will talk to students individually about Miller, and alternate courses if waitlisted for the requested MCTC program. 
    • If a student no longer wishes to attend Miller Career Center next school year, please email your counselor.
    • Please email MCTC@katyisd.org for any MCTC application questions. 

     


     

    Katy Virtual School

    Students can choose to take courses through KVS over the summer and throughout the school year. Please visit the KVS website for course availability, registration information and to sign up for courses. For questions regarding content and grade restrictions, please see the course catalog.     Schedule Change Requests

    All schedule changes must be requested within the 1st ten days of school. After the beginning of the 2023-24 school year, schedule change requests will ONLY be granted in the following cases:

    • Error in scheduling on the part of the school
    • Student failure in a prerequisite course
    • Change in the program (athletics, band, choir, orchestra, etc.)
    • Level changes (KAP/AP to Academic) as recommended by teacher/counselor with parental consent and principal approval
    • Student did not meet standard on EOC or benchmark test​
    • Elective changes will not be granted. 
    • Teacher change requests cannot be granted. 

     


     

    Algebra 2 Notification

    The information below is provided annually through school enews, and is important to note when planning your child's education. Graduation requirements for the Foundation High School Program + Endorsement (FHSPE) include four math credits, which must include Algebra I and Geometry credits, and two additional math credits. Algebra II is not specified as a graduation requirement; however, students who do not earn Algebra II credit are not eligible for: 

    • Earning the Distinguished Level of Achievement (DLA), which requires completion of an endorsement with Algebra II among the four math credits, 
    • Recognition as an honors or high honors graduate, 
    • Automatic admission to a state public college or university, and 
    • Certain financial aid opportunities, including the TEXAS grant or the Texas Educational Opportunity Grant.
