Katy ISD Library Services Mission Statement

The mission of the Katy Independent School District library media centers is to build a culture of literacy, inquiry, and creativity while empowering all patrons to become life-long learners and discriminating users of information.

To execute this mission, library media specialists, administrators, teachers, parents, and the community must collaborate to:
- provide access to current and relevant materials,
- ensure that all patrons can proficiently locate, access, integrate, evaluate and communicate information and ideas, and
- maintain a safe and welcoming for diverse learners that stimulates and enriches an appreciation of literature, intellectual freedom, social responsibility and life-long learning.

October HJH Library News
Crafting Club
We meet October 14th before school and during ELT to make origami monster bookmarks. Remember, if you are more than 5 minutes late to the morning meeting you'll have to wait for ELT to join!
Author Visit
Flyers were sent home with students about our first virtual author visit of the year on October 6th with Alan Gratz! See the flyer sent home with your child for more information.
Scholastic Book Fair
Our Scholastic Book Fair is from October 27th until November 3rd. Students can shop in person or online using cash, the Scholastic eWallet, or Apple Pay. Parents can shop in-person Saturday, October 29th during Haunt the Halls. More info will be sent home later this month.
Haunt the Halls - October 29th
Haskett is hosting a community Trick or Treat on Saturday, 10/29 from 2pm-4pm. Families can trick or treat in the halls, decorate trick or treat bags, attend spooky story time, and shop the book fair. Our public library will also have a booth for registering for library cards.
