Clinic

  • Clinic Reminder

If your child has medications in the clinic, please remind them to see their nurse and make arrangements for pick up. We cannot send controlled substances, such as ADHD meds, home with your student. A parent will need to make arrangements to pick it up.

Paperwork for next year will be sent home when the medication is picked up. If the medication is not picked up by June 2nd, it will need to be disposed of. Thank you in advance for your assistance with this.

Please remember if you were notified that your child was due a shot over the summer, it must be completed and turned in before the first day of school for your child to attend. Don't forget to send a copy of any other vaccines given over the summer so we may update your child's record.

    A note on communicable diseases:

When it comes to communicable illnesses, students, staff, and parents should be mindful of practicing proper hand hygiene, covering coughs and sneezes, and most importantly staying home when sick.

Please review KISD's 24hr Policy below for the guidelines of exclusion/re-admittance to school.

    24 Hour Rule:

KISD Administrative Regulation FFAD is in place to ensure the health and safety of all students and states that students who exhibit vomiting, diarrhea, or a fever ≥ 100, must be excluded from school.  If your student is ill, please keep them home.  Please call the attendance office to report their absence/symptoms.

Re admittance is allowable as follows:

    • Free of fever (<100) for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen. Common trade names of products containing these medications include, but are not limited to Tylenol, Motrin, and Advil.

    • Food and liquids have been tolerated for at least 24 hours without vomiting and/or diarrhea, and without the use of medication to relieve symptoms.

    • Students diagnosed with a contagious illness that is being treated with prescription medication must complete a minimum of 24 hours of the prescribed medication dosage prior to returning to school.

**If your child is sent home from the clinic with any of the above symptoms, the same 24-hour rule applies, and the 24 hours begin at the time the student is signed out**

A DOCTOR'S NOTE DOES NOT SUPERSEDE THE "24 HOUR RULE"
