ABOUT SLJH NJHS

  • ABOUT SLJH NJHS

Seven Lakes Junior High's National Junior Honor Society boasts over 300 members doing great things across our community!  From service to our school and district to service all across the Katy and Houston areas, we have given over 4500 hours of service to our community.

The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle-level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship, and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1929.

How do I become a member of NJHS?

NJHS membership is offered to qualified 7th-grade students after the 4th six weeks report cards are printed.  Students will be invited via a personal letter delivered during the school day. Details regarding induction and membership expectations will be included in invitation letters.

Membership is based on at least a 3.75 grade point average (GPA) and behavior conduct records.  Names are gathered from a Katy ISD-generated report of students' GPA and conduct history.  If you would like to determine if your child will be eligible, the formula for grade points given per class can be found in the Katy ISD Course Catalog  (GPA-exempt courses are not factored in determining GPA.)

Students with discipline infractions throughout the year are subject to removal from the list.

    What is required of members?

Members are required to complete a minimum of 10 service hours each year, with at least 1 of those hours in service through the school.  Students will be recognized for time given in service at the end of the year (if the minimum time is met).

What if I have further questions?
