    Katy ISD partners with Houston Community College in offering dual credit courses for students who meet specific requirements and would like to earn college credit at the same time as earning high school credit. Once accepted as a dual credit student, students can enroll in face-to-face courses or virtual classes. If interested, please contact your child's counselor or the Tompkins Dual Credit Liaison, Ms. Khan (michellemkhan@katyisd.org), with any questions. Please be aware that becoming a dual credit student is a multi-step process and requires 1–2 weeks to complete. Enrollment for the following school year begins in January and ends in March.

  • Steps to Apply for Dual Credit

    **If you are a returning dual credit student, you can skip to step 5. You do not have to complete another Dual Credit application.**

    1. Choose the dual credit course(s) as part of your schedule when completing course selection in SchooLinks
    2. Complete your ApplyTexas application by March 1st
      1. Check for HCC Application Lab Dates for help with completing the application process- don't wait until the last minute!
      2. www.ApplyTexas.org
      3. Use your personal email address, not your school or an iCloud email address
      4. Complete both the profile and the application sections while choosing dual credit as your application type
    3. Watch for an email from HCC with your student ID
      1. Your new ID number will start with a "W"
      2. You need this ID number for your Dual Credit application
    4. Complete the KISD HCC Dual Credit application
      1. Packet is located on this page on the right hand side
    5. Submit the completed KISD Dual Credit application packet through the Google Form portal
      1. Returning students do not complete another packet
      2. Returning students MUST complete the Google Form on the right
    6. Save your confirmation email
      1. You should receive your confirmation within a couple of minutes
    7. Once your application is reviewed, you will be contacted if: 
      1. There are any mistakes or missing information
      2. You do not meet eligibility requirements
      3. You need to take the TSI-A exam for college readiness

    Dual Credit Courses Available

    Dual Credit Application packets are only accepted through online submission in the Google Form.

    Do you need to take the TSI-A to be eligible to enroll in dual credit classes? If so, please contact Ms. Atilano, the College and Career Facilitator, to complete your pre-assessment and schedule a date for your test. You can scan Ms. Atilano's QR code outside the Counseling Office or email her at enidlatilano@katyisd.org.
