Meet the Counselors

  • Mrs. Freda Ihediwa and Mrs. Kathryn Johnson

    Freda Ihediwa (left) and Kathryn Johnson (right) are the counselors at Schmalz Elementary. A fun fact is that Mrs. Johnson was Mrs. Ihediwa's mentor when she became a counselor. 
     
    Mrs. Ihediwa has 20 years in education and four years as a counselor. As a teacher she taught reading, writing, and math in grades 2nd - 5th as a general and special education teacher. Mrs. Ihediwa has a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Film & Video Studies from the University of Oklahoma, Master of Business Administration in Media Management from Metropolitan College of New York, and Master of Science in Education from Brooklyn College. She received her School Counseling Certification from Sam Houston State University. 
     
    Mrs. Ihediwa is celebrating 20 years of marriage and has two children. Her self-care includes karaoke, reading, watching movies, listening to music, bike riding, taking in the beauty of nature, and traveling. 
     

    Mrs. Johnson has 21 years in education and 13 years as a counselor. As a teacher, she taught kindergarten. Mrs. Johnson has a Bachelor of Science in Education from Baylor University and Master of School Counseling from the University of Houston. 

    Mrs. Johnson has been married 21 years and has two children.  Her self-care includes going to Disney World every chance she gets, photography, and traveling.
