Although Mayde Creek Junior is the oldest member of the Mayde Creek complex, it was renovated for the 2012-2013 school year.  Featuring extra-large science labs and art rooms, additional classrooms, and a fully remodeled library, Mayde Creek Junior High welcomes students, parents, and visitors with a warm, inviting, and modern facility staffed by exceptional educators and professionals.

MCJH provides fulfilling and challenging educational opportunities designed to develop each student’s individual abilities intellectually, physically, and socially through engaging, authentic learning activities utilizing collaboration, technology, problem-solving, and critical thinking.  Our science classes emphasize student-centered labs, inquiry-based instruction, and hands-on exploration; our math classes employ manipulatives to develop mathematical reasoning skills.  Our English Language Arts classes feature reader/writer workshops and our social studies classes incorporate state-of-the-art technology which allows students to interact with the content they are studying.

In addition to a rigorous academic core curriculum, students at MCJH may choose to participate in band, orchestra, choir, theater arts, career and technology programs, Yearbook, National Junior Honor Society, Student Council, and, of course, athletics.

Mayde Creek Junior High is composed of a diverse community of faculty and students.  The curriculum includes programs designed to meet the needs of all of the learners, including thriving communities of KAP, GT, and ESL learners.  The social, academic, and emotional needs of our special needs population are met by an outstanding faculty of specially trained educators and paraprofessionals.

Parent volunteers are always welcome to participate in MCJH’s various school activities and campus life. This year we have KEYS mentors on campus volunteering. We also have an active PTA that is always looking for dedicated parents/family members who want to help out and contribute to our great school. Volunteers log nearly 20,000 hours per year working in the library, front office, and counselors’ office, assisting in school fundraisers and chaperoning student trips.  The PTA sponsors numerous teacher support activities, community nights, and special events for students.

All of this has factored into the success of Mayde Creek Junior High!
