My name is Maryam Javed and I am so excited to begin my 8th year of teaching. This is my second year at Shafer and I am so happy to be here! I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin (Hook 'em) and married a Buckeye from THE Ohio State University. In the fall I will always cheer on my Longhorns and Buckeyes. In my free time I like to try out new restaurants and coffee shops with my husband. I love spending time with friends and family, usually around really good food! I also love to cook and spend a good amount of time in the kitchen experimenting with new recipes! I can't wait to meet all of my students and families and am looking forward to my time at Shafer Elementary!

My name is Chloe Kinnard, and this will be my 9th year teaching Math. This is my third-year teaching 5th grade, as I've taught 4th and 6th grade Math, previously. I hold a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction - Mathematics, from the University of Texas Arlington. I’m looking forward to getting to know all of my students and watching them learn!  I come from a family of many teachers. I’m the youngest of three children. In my free time, I love to binge watch my favorite shows, cook, and travel. I’m so excited about being your child’s teacher this year! Their last year at Shafer Elementary is going to be bright!

My name is Brooke La More, and I am so excited to start my 7th year at Shafer teaching 5th grade ELAR and social studies, and my 10th year teaching. I attended Katy ISD as a student, and I am blessed to be able to work in the district that gave me so much. I graduated from Texas A&M University (WHOOP!) with a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies. I’m so excited to work with my students and help foster their love of reading, writing, and social studies. 

Howdy! My name is Joe Loftis. I am a 3rd Generation Aggie and graduated from Texas A&M University in 2014. I have been teaching for four years, the previous two at Shafer. My wife and I have just celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary, and we have a mini dachshund named Daisy. Looking forward to this exciting year at Shafer!

My name is Marissa Luchetti, and I am thrilled to be teaching fifth grade at Shafer! With seven years of experience in education, I bring a passion for learning and a dedication to my students' success. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending quality time with my wonderful family. My husband and I have three amazing children who keep us busy and bring joy to our lives. Together, we love exploring the area, playing games, and embarking on new adventures.  I am excited to embark on this new academic year and look forward to partnering with you to make it a successful and memorable experience for your child.

Hello! My name is Mili Mehta. This is my fifth year as a 5th grade teacher at Katy ISD and second year with Shafer Elementary. This is the best school around and I am proud to be a part of the wonderful Shafer Kingdom!  I love being with kids; teaching and learning with them is my passion! I teach because there is nothing like being able to help a child reach their full potential. I’m excited about this year and am looking forward to lots of fun in fifth grade!

Hello! My name is Brenda Noto and I am looking forward to my 5th year at Shafer Elementary. I graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Education and I hold a Master of Education from Houston Baptist University.  I am also a Reading Specialist K-12 with an ESL endorsement. This year I begin my 25th year of teaching. I have taught 2nd, 4th, 5th, and grades 9-12.  I have two sweet daughters. Nicole, 23 years old, is a medical student, MS2, at McGovern near the Medical Center. Samantha, 21 years old, is a senior at Marymount Manhattan in NYC.  She is studying dance and hopes to be a Rockette! I have a cute little Pug named Bella. I enjoy working out, shopping, reading, and writing in my journal.  My classroom is a loving, warm, positive, and safe environment for all students. I am so excited to begin our new journey of learning! This year will be the best!

My name is Julie Schroeder and I am a 5th grade Math and Science teacher at Shafer Elementary. This is my 35th year in the classroom and my 4th year as a proud member of the Shafer community. I work hard to provide a safe space for all students to learn, be creative thinkers, and be successful. I love our school and look forward to a fantastic school year!
