• In Katy ISD, students who are identified as Gifted/Talented (GT) in a particular content area are served through the KAP curriculum, which is appropriate for the needs of GT learners. They enroll in "KAP/GT" courses with teachers who have received GT training and are aware of the unique learning needs of GT students. Identified GT students often form close bonds with other GT students, and KAP/GT classes help meet some of their unique social and emotional needs. Additionally, High School Credit KAP/GT courses carry a "weighted" grade point; for example, an A average counts as five grade points rather than the traditional four grade points.

General Screening Parent checklists are available from the GT tile in the parent portal (My Katy Cloud).

Checklists are due October 4, 2024. Testing takes place November-January, with final placement decisions sent to parents via email on Feb 10, 2025.

Current GT screening is for possible placement in GT classes in the Fall of 2025.

Additional information can be found on the Katy ISD GT & Advanced Academics website. If you have any questions, please contact Katie Rudnick, GT Facilitator.
