• Hi There Panthers!

My name is April Richardson, and I am one of your counselor’s here at MPE! I was born and raised in Fort Worth Texas. I joined the United States Navy right out of high school and spent 9 years serving our country. While on activity duty I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences from Chapman University. After separating I attended Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi earning my Masters in School Counseling. I have been in education for 6 years now and have had the privilege of working with students from the elementary level all the way through senior year of high school. I am a mom of one, Amarie (1), and a dog mom to Smalls (14)! I have recently taken on crafting and crocheting along with spending QT time with my family.

As an elementary school counselor I believe it is important that our children have a strong foundation from which they are able to build on. Having a growth mindset can change the way our students view academic achievement as well as social and emotional well being. That is why my primary focus is to develop and build relationships with students, parents, educators, and members of the community to support student success.

I am committed to the success of MPE students becoming productive and responsible citizens through social and emotional support. Please reach out if I can offer guidance, encouragement, or assistance as we begin this adventure together!

    Hello Panthers!

My name is Veronica Martinez Llaurador, and I am the bilingual counselor here at MPE! I was born and raised in Puerto Rico. In 2014, I graduated from the University of Puerto Rico with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and Mental Health. After graduating, I had the opportunity to work as a temporary second grade teacher and that was the moment where I discovered my interest in education. Later in 2016, I decided to move to Houston for better professional opportunities and I completed an Alternate Teacher Certification Program to be able to start teaching.I have been in education for 8 years working with elementary students. In 2021,  I completed a Master’s degree in School Counseling from the University of Saint Thomas in Houston and this will be my third year as a school counselor and with KatyISD.

I recently had my daughter Miranda, and I have a four legged son named Lucas (dog). I enjoy traveling home to spend time with my family. I love the outdoors, especially going to the beach and practicing paddle boarding.

I am grateful for the opportunity to continue my journey as a school counselor at MPE!  I believe in creating a safe and inclusive environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential. By promoting social-emotional learning, and collaborating closely with educators, families, and the community, I strive to address the diverse needs of our students at MPE. My goal is to provide them with the skills and confidence they need to overcome challenges, build positive relationships, and achieve their goals, all while ensuring a safe and welcoming school climate.
