Katy ISD Athletic Hall of Honor Purpose & Requirements

  • ARTICLE I. NAME

    The name of this non-profit 501 C (3) status organization shall be the Katy Independent School District Athletic Hall of Honor (“KISDAHH”).

    ARTICLE II. PURPOSE

    The purpose of the Katy ISD Athletic Hall of Honor shall be to:

      1. Honor Inductees and individuals who contribute to athletics in the Katy Independent School District.
      2. Recognize selected sports teams who excelled in their particular athletic fields for Katy Independent School District.
      3. Stimulate continued interest in sports participation and activities in Katy Independent School District.

    ARTICLE III. CRITERIA FOR SELECTION

    Nominations may come from four categories:

    Athlete:

    Individual inductees must be a graduate of a Katy ISD school and have been out of school for a period of ten (10) years, have been a member of a Katy ISD varsity team or individual varsity sport, and must possess good character throughout his/her life.  In addition, the nominee must meet one (1) of the following criteria:

        1. Have earned All-State recognition (first or second team) or All Region (first team) or selected to participate in a recognized coaches All-Star game.
        2. Won an individual State Championship in their respective sport or qualified for State in their respective sport.
        3. Named All-District in multiple sports.
        4. A college degree and playing their chosen sport in college or professionally is not a must, but could help in decision making for the selection committee.  

    Team:

    A team must meet at least one (1) of the following criteria:

        1. Winner of a State Championship.
        2. The committee should have the flexibility to nominate a team that may have made a special and significant impact on its school athletic program or community, but did not win a State Championship.

    ​​Coach:

    Requirement:  Any coach with at least fifteen (15) years of coaching experience and must be inactive and removed from the coaching staff for five (5) years.

    Coaches must meet two (2) out of four (4) of the following criteria:

        1. Demonstrated consistent and substantial success in their respective sport (i.e. district championships, playoff appearances, coached state qualifiers, (etc.).
        2. Winner of a State Championship.
        3. Demonstrated special and significant support for Katy ISD athletic programs.
        4. The committee should have the flexibility to nominate a coach that may have made a special and significant impact on its school athletic program, or community, but did not win a State Championship.

    Special Merit:

    Nominees must meet both of the following criteria:

        1. These individuals/groups other than athletes or coaches have made a special and significant contribution in terms of time, talent, funding, or support to Katy ISD Athletics.
        2. Candidates may include but are not limited to:  athletic trainers, teachers, administrators, school patrons, Booster Club members, sports writers, announcers, doctors/team physicians, superintendent and Katy ISD staff.​
