• PBIS at Morton Ranch Elementary

    What is PBIS?

As part of a district-wide initiative, Morton Ranch Elementary has adopted a new Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (P.B.I.S.) model. PBIS was established to address the behavioral and discipline systems needed for successful learning and social development of students. The school-wide system includes proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behaviors to create positive school environments. A system of acknowledgements will help motivate students to try their best and to encourage others as well.

    What is our motto?

One important piece of PBIS is to create a set of 3-5 school rules that are well known to all members of the school community. The staff created an acronym, MAVS, to help promote our school-wide values and expectations. Our motto reads…

    M: Make good decisions

    A: Accept responsibility

    V: Value hard work

    S: Show kindness

    What is Moo-la?

The MRE PBIS Committee has worked with grade level teams to create rewards for students who are showing MAVS behavior.  When students show their MAVS behavior, they have the opportunity to earn "Moo-la."  Every few weeks, students can redeem their Moo-la for exciting experiences such as: wearing slippers at school; bringing a stuffed animal to school; 15 minutes of free time; lunch with a principal; or being a guest reporter on the Ranch Report.  Watch for Moo-la Store dates in upcoming newsletters.
