Online Absence Reporting Form
-
Information from the ADA Clerk at Bear Creek Elementary School
- The school bell rings at 7:50AM for students to report to class.
- The tardy bell rings at 8:10AM (If a student arrives at/after 8:10 am they will be counted tardy).
- Parents should accompany students into the front office after 8:10AM to receive a tardy slip.
- It is important for students to be on time and not miss valuable instructional time.
- Attendance is taken at 9:35 AM. If a student arrives after 9:35 AM, the student is absent from school.
If your child will be absent from school, please call 281-237-5600 or send an email to bcecougars@katyisd.org to report the absence and send an excuse note to school when the child returns. It is very important to provide documentation when your child is absent.
- 3 unexcused absences in a 4-week period will automatically generate a Compulsory attendance letter from the Katy ISD Police Department.
- Parents will have 5 school days to bring in an excuse or a court warning will be issued informing parents that future absences must be accompanied by a doctor’s note in order for an absence to be considered excused.
- 5 absences with an excuse note reporting illness in a 4-week period or 8 absences with an excuse note reporting illness in a 6-month period will be flagged by a doctor’s note.
- All future absences must be accompanied by a note from the doctor in order for an absence to be excused.
- Kindergarten attendance is mandatory once a student is registered.
- Religious Holy Days; please send a note with specific Holy day, Religion and dates that your student(s) will be absent.
Pre-Kinder
- Please note that tardies, absences and late pick-ups will jeopardize their progress in the Pre-Kindergarten program.
- With five (5) absences, you will receive a warning letter and after eight (8) absences, you will be scheduled to have a conference with the teacher and an administrator to monitor your student’s progress and/or dismiss them from the program.
- Pre-Kinder is not mandatory, but once the student is registered, attendance is mandatory.
- Also, when the Pre-K student turns 5 years old, the Katy ISD truancy office looks at their year's attendance and all the attendance rules will apply to the student.
