About Us

  • Tommy Daniels, Principal

Catherine (Gigi) Bethke (Beth-key) entered the education field in 1976 with great enthusiasm and pride in her role as a teacher. She earned her degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

Bethke began her 31-year career in Katy ISD as a Kinder and first grade teacher at the original Williamsburg Settlement Elementary School under the leadership of Diane Winborn. She has also served as a teacher leader in the opening of Winborn Elementary, Alexander Elementary and Creech Elementary.

In 2000, she began her 12-year tenure at Creech Elementary under the principalship of Patricia Paetow. She was a REACH teacher where she worked with students who struggled with reading and provided intensive, supplemental instruction. She also taught PRIDE, served as an Academic Support teacher, and created and piloted a reading fluency program. In 2006, she was honored as a Campus Teacher of the Year and went on to be a Katy ISD District-wide finalist. In 2006, she was also honored as the Walmart Teacher of the Year.

From her passion for literacy to her after-school tutoring, Bethke earned the respect of not only students, but faculty and parents throughout her career.

Bethke was awarded a lifetime PTA membership for her continued dedication to students as an active support in the PTA program. She also helped begin the Katy chapter of the Alpha Delta Kappa teacher society and served as one of the first presidents of the chapter.

After retirement, Bethke continues to work part-time as a Gifted and Talented assessment proctor for the District. She still substitutes for the District and is regularly seen volunteering at Alexander Elementary.
