Curating a love of reading is important to educators and families in Katy ISD. Recently, the State of Texas has released this year's 2x2 (books for ages 2 to grade 2) and Bluebonnet (books for grades 3-6) Awards for 2023. Elementary and Junior High campuses may utilize books from these award lists in upcoming reading engagement programs. Participation in these reading programs is voluntary, and parents may select the books from these lists that their children may read to earn incentives. Students are not required to read all selections from the 2x2 and Bluebonnet reading list(s). It is important for parents to assist their child in selecting books that garner student interest and engagement in reading. Katy ISD is committed to building a strong foundation and love of reading though independent reading programs hosted by our elementary and junior high campuses. Please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher or librarian with questions regarding participation in the reading program hosted by your child’s campus.
