• MRJH Attendance Page Information

     

    Students are responsible to arrive in a timely manner to class.  Attendance will be taken in every period.

     

    Absences, Tardies, and Attendance Reviews

     

    • Guardians need to complete the Absence Report via the online, for EACH full day of absence, preferably before 12 PM (only for Current date). Email Absence notes to Attendance Clerk or send a note with student to the attendance office for previous absences.
    • Absences reported after 12:00 p.m. may be processed the following day.
    • Reporting absences to teachers does not ensure that the absence report will be process, please contact complete the online form or contact Front Office/Attendance directly.
    • All tardies/absences are unexcused unless accompanied by:  1) a doctor’s note for a healthcare appointment; 2) a parent's note explaining the reason the student is tardy/absent (reason must be in accordance with District Policy for excused reasons).

    Early Dismissals

    • Guardians MUST present a picture ID when checking out student. 
    • If someone other than the Guardian/Emergency Contact needs to check out the student, the Attendance Office MUST receive written permission and a copy of the ID from the Guardian. The Adult picking up will be required to show a valid ID at in order to pick up the student.  (whether they are on the contact list or not). 
    • When granting permission to pick up, please include: the student’s name, grade, the legal name of the person picking up, their relationship with the student, the reason for Early Dismissal, and the specific date and time the student is being picked up.  The Permission note and ID copy need to be dropped off or email to the Attendance Office.
    • Early Dismissal – Generally, please allow 10 minutes for us to pull your student from class. 
    • The latest check-out is at 3:30 p.m.

    Attendance Corrections

    • When receiving an automated call regarding a student’s Tardiness/Absence when the student was present, please contact the teacher to request a review. The teacher and attendance will review the request and will modify accordingly.
    • Dr Notes/Parent Notes will be updated on Attendance within 24-48 hours upon received.  Parents can access their student’s attendance history on the Home Access Center to verify corrections.

    Compulsory Attendance Notifications (CAN Letters)**

     

    If a student has 3 unexcused absences in a 4-week period or 6 unexcused absences in 6 months, the parent will receive a Compulsory Attendance Notification.  The parent should contact the attendance office within 5 days to correct any errors. If the absences are not corrected and unexcused absences continue, further Truancy Prevention Measures may be taken.  This is the first warning in the process.

    *Note – A ‘Pre-arranged Absences’ form must be completed for advance notice of absences.  Family events, business trips, and vacations are unexcused and will generate an automatic attendance message from the district.  If you have given prior notification, you do not need to do anything further. Notes will be entered in the student’s record for Excused and Unexcused reports.

     

    Failure to Attend School Notifications

    A Failure to Attend School Notification letter will be mailed when your student has excessive absences because of personal illness for one or more of the following: full or partial days.

    • A student has eight (8) cumulative personal illness days in a six-month period.
    • A student exceeds five (5) consecutive personal illness days.

    If you receive this letter, all future absences because of personal illness will require a statement from a physician or health clinic to be excused.

     

    Attendance for Credit

     

    All absences, excused and unexcused, are counted for the purpose of determining attendance for credit. For each course/class in which a student falls below the 90 percent threshold, a review of the record will be conducted, and the student may be required to complete a plan developed by the principal or designee in order to gain credit or be promoted.

    Physical Copy of Government-Issued IDs are necessary for accesing campuses/facilities, registration and student pickup
