Classroom Technology

Classroom Support

Katy ISD teachers and students are able to use a wide variety of collaborative tools within their classes. Teachers receive training and ongoing support for standard equipment and software tools.

Teachers and students are supported by Classroom Technology Designers who provide integrated, relevant resources at the content and grade level. They are responsible for providing training assistance for instructional software and hardware for teachers and students. Each Classroom Technology Designer is assigned to specific campuses and provides training through face-to-face, online meetings, and eCourses.

In collaboration with classroom teachers, the Instructional Technology Department will prepare and engage students to problem-solve, communicate, create, and make an informed contribution to their learning experience. The integration of technology allows students to not only consume information but to be active participants in creating and showing new knowledge through the use of audio, video, animations, and interactive content.

Learning Management System Support

Canvas is a learning management system (LMS) that allows teachers to provide instructional support, class calendars, assignments, and resources for students and parents in a safe online environment. The CTDs along with the district LMS Support Specialists work to implement and train teachers on best practices to support classroom and hybrid learning to extend the classroom experience.
