KATY, TX [October 29, 2024] – More than 200 Katy ISD students and graduates earned AP (Advanced Placement) distinctions in the 2023-24 school year, with 51 of them being 2024 graduating seniors.
Among those recognized, 178 students were awarded the AP Capstone Diploma, which requires a two-year sequence of courses, AP Seminar and AP Research. In addition, students must earn a 3 or higher in four AP subject exams.
Twenty-four students earned the AP Seminar and Research Certificate, which requires a score of 3 in just the Seminar and Research courses.
“We are so proud of these students and graduates for their hard work and dedication,” said Danielle Sanchez, Director of GT & Advanced Academics in Katy ISD. “These students have earned a remarkable achievement.”
Students enrolled in the AP Seminar and AP Research courses participate in project-based learning, and are encouraged to create research projects based on topics of personal interest. Through research, presentations, and essays, students learn critical thinking, research, collaboration, time management and presentation skills.
Nationally, approximately 21,000 students earned the AP Capstone Diploma and 11,000 students earned the AP Seminar and Research Certificate.
