Demographic Update Shows Steady Growth in Katy ISD’s Northwest Quadrant

KATY, TX [November 18, 2024] – At tonight’s Katy ISD Board meeting, the district’s demographic partner, Population and Survey Analysts (PASA), presented the 2024 Demographic Update, projecting steady growth over the next 10 years, especially in the northwest quadrant.

PASA forecasts that Katy ISD will grow by an annual average of 1,017 over the next five years with the bulk of growth coming from new large housing developments in the northwest quadrant of the district. In 2029, the student population is projected to be over 101,000.

"Katy ISD remains a destination district thanks to the high-quality education and support services our teachers and staff provide across 78 campuses," said Dr. Ken Gregorski, Superintendent of Katy ISD. "Demographic projections are crucial for planning future facilities to ensure every student is able to learn in a safe and supportive environment."

PASA projects a total of 44,239 new housing occupancies within Katy ISD’s boundaries over the next ten years, including master-planned developments and rental communities. Currently, over, 92% of the district’s resident students attend Katy ISD schools, with this number expected to increase with that new growth.

The development of PASA’s demographic study was a months-long process that involved analyzing the district’s background data, local economic and housing trends, and past and current student populations.
