Katy ISD Honors Maintenance and Operations Team at Annual Awards Ceremony

The district took time today to shine the spotlight on employees who work tirelessly to keep the district running, during the annual Maintenance and Operations Awards ceremony at the Young Agricultural Center.

A highlight of the ceremony was the rousing standing ovation given to Billie Thibodeaux-Wolf, who has dedicated the past 35 years as a custodian across many campuses.

"For an employee to stay 35 years is incredible," said Nathan Fuchs, Executive Director for Maintenance and Operations. "She is well deserving of the accolades she received today.”

The nearly 1,000 dedicated employees in Maintenance and Operations provide service to 78 campuses and 24 support facilities, ensuring that every aspect of the district’s infrastructure is meticulously maintained and efficiently operated.

“I cannot thank these employees enough for their hard work and dedication to Katy ISD,” said Fuchs. “They are always at the ready to keep our facilities running, even throughout hurricanes, freezes, scorching temperatures and long days and nights.”

The Maintenance and Operations team is the backbone of any school district, ensuring a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. Their work goes far beyond routine repairs and custodial duties; they are essential for the smooth operation of all school facilities.

From managing heating and cooling systems to maintaining clean and sanitary conditions, their efforts directly impact the daily comfort and safety of everyone on campus. During emergencies such as severe weather or unexpected equipment failures, their prompt and effective response is crucial in minimizing disruptions to the educational process. By keeping the district’s facilities in top condition, the maintenance and operations team supports the district's mission of providing high-quality education and fosters an atmosphere where learning can thrive.
