Seven Lakes High School Earns National Runner-Up Finish at Science Olympiad National Tournament, Seven Lakes Junior High Places 13th

KATY, TX [June 25, 2026] – Seven Lakes High School continued its tradition of excellence on the national stage, earning second place in Division C at the 2026 National Science Olympiad National Tournament held at the University of Southern California.

The national runner-up finish comes one year after Seven Lakes High School captured the 2025 national championship, cementing the program's status among the nation's elite Science Olympiad teams.

More than 2,000 students representing 120 teams from across the United States competed in the 42nd Annual Science Olympiad National Tournament. Students participated in rigorous science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) events that tested their knowledge, laboratory skills and engineering prowess.

Jordan High School qualified for the national tournament as the runner up in the state tournament.

Marking their first appearance in school history, Seven Lakes Junior High School also represented the District at the nationals after earning a runner-up finish at the Texas State Science Olympiad Tournament. The Spartans battled in Division B, finishing 13th in the nation against some of the country's top middle school teams.

"Competing at the national level requires an extraordinary commitment to learning, teamwork and problem-solving," Katy ISD Director of GT & Advanced Academics Danielle Sanchez said. "We are incredibly proud of our students and coaches for representing the District with excellence. Their achievements reflect the strength of our advanced academic programs and their passion for scientific discovery."

Science Olympiad is one of the nation's premier STEM competitions, challenging students through a combination of academic, laboratory and engineering events designed to foster innovation, collaboration and critical thinking.

Katy ISD congratulates the students, coaches and families from Seven Lakes High School and Seven Lakes Junior High School for their outstanding accomplishments on the national stage.
