Raising the Stakes: Katy ISD Presented Texas Educational Theatre Association’s Exemplary District Award of Distinction
KATY, TX [July 1, 2026] - Katy ISD has earned the Texas Educational Theatre Association (TxETA) Exemplary District Award of Distinction for its continuous commitment to theatre education, student achievement and artistic excellence.
The Exemplary District Award is the highest honor given by the TxETA and recognizes districts that make outstanding contributions to a range of criteria, including quality theatre productions, support for theatre technology, access to acting spaces, administrative support and student participation in UIL contests.
Highlighting programs that demonstrate distinction across multiple advanced categories, TxETA honors districts that not only contribute to their communities, but fully represent the passion, hard work, dramaturgical learning and theatrical creativity that define outstanding theatre programs.
“We work to create dynamic and inclusive environments where theatre education can thrive at the campus and District level,” Katy ISD Assistant Director of Fine Arts Susan Chiboroski said. "This award affirms the vision and sustained efforts that inspire students, empower teachers and positively impact the community.”

Exceeding the standard, Katy ISD earned the TxETA Exemplary District Award of Distinction.
