Nichole Frias Named Principal of Winborn Elementary, Continuing the Eagles’ Legacy of Excellence

KATY, TX [January 30, 2026] – Winborn Elementary School will welcome a familiar and trusted leader as Nichole Frias has been named the campus’ new principal, effective Feb. 2. Frias brings a strong background in instructional leadership and a deep connection to the Winborn community, where she has served as assistant principal since 2021.

Frias steps into the role after working closely with students, staff and families under the leadership of former principal Lisa Frison. During her time at Winborn, she helped strengthen campus culture and focused on student character development, including the creation of the Exceptional Eagle recognition program, which celebrates positive behavior and integrity.

“Ms. Frias is a dedicated leader who understands the heart of Winborn Elementary,” Katy ISD Superintendent Ken Gregorski said. “Her commitment to student growth, instructional excellence and character development for our Eagles makes her the right choice to lead this campus. We are confident she will continue to build on Winborn’s strong foundation.”

Prior to joining Katy ISD, Frias served in Houston ISD for nine years, beginning her career as an elementary English language arts and social studies teacher. She later advanced into teacher coaching and administrative roles, supporting instructors and campus improvement across multiple elementary schools.

Frias said she is honored to continue serving the Winborn community.

“Leading Winborn Elementary is a privilege,” Frias said. “I believe deeply in our students and in the power of education rooted in integrity and high expectations. I look forward to partnering with families and staff as we continue helping our Eagles soar.”

Frias holds a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies education from the University of Houston and a master’s degree in administration from Houston Baptist University. Her career includes experience in instructional coaching, teacher development and campus operations.

Frias officially begins her role as principal on Feb. 2.
