Katy ISD Students Shine, Earning 1,680 College Board National Recognition Awards

Katy ISD Students Shine, Earning 1,680 College Board National Recognition Awards

KATY, TX [August 21, 2025] – Katy Independent School District students continue to raise the bar of academic excellence. The College Board’s National Recognition Program honored 1,680 of the District’s students for their outstanding academic achievement.

The program, provided by BigFuture®, celebrates high-performing students who excelled on the PSAT/NMSQT®, PSAT™ 10 and Advanced Placement® (AP) Exams. It is designed to highlight each student’s academic accomplishments and give them a competitive edge on college and scholarship applications.

“This recognition is a testament to the hard work and perseverance our students demonstrate every day and the support our teachers provide on their academic journey,” Katy ISD Chief Academic Officer Dr. Christine Caskey said. “We are incredibly proud to see so many of them honored for their excellence.”

The College Board introduced three award categories this year: the First-Generation Recognition Award, the Rural and Small-Town Recognition Award and the School Recognition Award, which highlights top-performing students across every high school.

To qualify, students must:

  • Take the PSAT/NMSQT® and/or AP® Exams by the end of their sophomore year
  • Maintain a B+ or higher cumulative GPA
  • Score in the top 10 percent of test takers at their school, qualify as first-generation college students or earn a score of 3+ on two or more AP® Exams by 10th grade

Katy ISD students continue to impress, earning 1,680 College Board National Recognition Awards.
