KATY, TX [June 17, 2026] – Katy ISD students earned state championships and top-three finishes at the 2026 UIL Academic State Meet, showcasing the District's competitive academic advantage versus the state's top contenders.

Leading the way was Seven Lakes High School, which finished third overall in the Class 6A state standings and capturing the Class 6A Social Studies State Championship. Team members included Matthew Myers, Andy Truong, Rey Georghiou and Adam Brown.

Seven Lakes also earned second place in Number Sense, led by individual state champion Nayaneshwar Sanampuri, and third place in Accounting. Claire Simoens earned a silver medal with a second-place individual finish in Accounting.

The Spartans continued their success in the UIL Film Festival, where Sofia Morias and Bianca Salinas captured the Class 6A Traditional Animation state title for their film “Together or Naught.” Zaina Quadri earned third place in Digital Animation for “To the Core.”

"Katy ISD students continue to demonstrate what is possible through hard work, perseverance and a passion for learning," Katy ISD Instructional Officer Kristina Sides said. "Competing at the state level is an accomplishment in itself, and these students excelled against the very best academic competitors in Texas."

Tompkins High School added to the District's success with a third-place finish in Computer Science. Shiv Patel earned a bronze medal with a third-place individual finish in Accounting.
