Community Turns Out for Katy ISD Police/DEA Prescription Drug Take Back Day
Katy, TX [October 25, 2025] – Katy-area residents joined the Katy ISD Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) today to safely dispose of expired, unneeded and unwanted prescription medications during National Prescription Drug Take Back Day at the Katy ISD Law Enforcement Center.
Throughout the morning and afternoon, community members dropped off prescription medications for proper disposal, supporting a nationwide initiative that promotes safety and environmental responsibility.
“Events like this help protect our families and keep dangerous medications out of the wrong hands,” Katy ISD Police Chief David Rider said. “We are grateful to our community for showing up and helping us make a positive impact.”
The collection site accepted numerous prescription containers, contributing to the DEA’s ongoing effort that has gathered more than 17 million pounds of unused medications across the country since the program began.
The District’s Police Department hosts the annual event to encourage safe medication disposal, prevent potential misuse and raise awareness about the environmental dangers of improper disposal.
