Katy ISD remains a destination district for families seeking academic rigor and state and nationally recognized college readiness. For the fifth consecutive year, Katy ISD is ranked the No. 1 school district in the Houston area and 10th in Texas by Niche.

A Growing Global Program

During the 2024-25 school year, more than 160,000 students across 3,500 schools worldwide participated in the AP Capstone program. Of those, approximately 27,650 students earned the AP Capstone Diploma and 12,430 earned the AP Seminar and Research Certificate.

AP Seminar and AP Research courses are interdisciplinary and project-based, evaluating mastery through group work, presentations and essays. Students design research projects around topics of personal interest, applying critical thinking, collaboration and time management skills throughout the process.

About the AP Program

The College Board’s AP Program allows students to take college-level courses while in high school. Earning a score of 3 or higher on an AP exam can qualify students for college credit or advanced placement, saving both time and tuition. Studies show that AP students are more likely to enroll in college, perform well in classes and graduate on time.

In collaboration with colleges and universities, the College Board developed AP Capstone to help students master the analytical, research and communication skills essential for success beyond high school.

Katy ISD students continue to impress, earning 325 AP Capstone Diplomas.
