AP Exam Information
College Board Advanced Placement courses, which are optional courses offered as part of the advanced academics program, involve college-level content that may include topics beyond the scope of typical high school courses. The College Board provides a detailed set of expectations about what content a college-level course should cover. Course information can be reviewed on the College Board website. It is important for students and parents/guardians to be aware that some of the material covered and resources utilized in these courses may not align with the policies and guidelines set by the school district.
AP Course and Exam Information
The College Board posts a complete Course & Exam Description for its 42 AP subjects. Exams are administered according to the 2026 AP Exam Dates provided by the College Board.
Students who are eligible for free/reduced-price lunch may be eligible to take AP Exams at a reduced cost.
Preparing for an AP Exam
Completing an AP Exam always has benefits, no matter your score. It shows colleges you’re willing to challenge yourself by completing college-level coursework. And if it’s your first time taking an AP Exam, learn what to expect so you’ll feel confident on test day.

AP Credit Policy
Many colleges and universities will award credit for an AP Exam score of 3 or better. However, it is important to note that credit policies vary by university, and students are encouraged to research credit policies at their perspective colleges.

Home-Schooled Student Information
A home-schooled student, who is enrolled in 9th-12th grade, may make arrangements to take the assessment at his/her zoned high school. Parents will need to contact the AP Coordinator, at the zoned high school campus, for registration requirements and possible costs.
The deadline to register with the AP Coordinator at the zoned high school, is Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 3:00 PM. Proof of residency is required at the time of registration. See residency requirements for full details.
Katy ISD does not administer AP exams to students enrolled in an accredited virtual, charter, or private school.
