Parent Centers
Katy ISD Parent Centers

Sharon Sefcik-Malazzo, Coordinator
Katy ISD operates Parent Centers that support parents of immigrant and emergent bilingual (EB) students whose children attend specific schools in the district. The Centers offer free adult English classes, mentoring and volunteer opportunities, and community-based guest speaker sessions. Childcare for children 18 months through pre-school age is also provided at no cost.
Mission
The goal of the EL District Testing Center is to screen and place students qualifying for ESL or bilingual services into the appropriate programs as soon as possible following initial screening.
Locations
The Parent Centers are located at Hutsell (HE), Mayde Creek (MCE) and Sundown (SE) elementary schools.
The Centers operate from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM, Monday through Thursday, and offer three levels of English instruction in basic, intermediate and advanced classes that are 1.5 hours each.
