Hutsell Student Council
Purpose of Hutsell Student Council:
Our Student Council is a group of students who work with faculty sponsors to enhance our school community through active participation. The council is made up of one elected representative from each third, fourth, and fifth-grade classroom, an elected President, Secretary, and Treasurer, as well as teachers and administrators.
1. Promote school projects. For example, we have planted trees and flowers, donated risers for our Hutsell Strings program and playground equipment from funds raised, surveyed and petitioned for the return of strawberry milk as a choice in our cafeteria, organized a breakfast buddies program, participated in the Katy FFA parade and sponsored an end of year school Fun Day.
2. Develop leadership and communication skills by running the school store, representing their class at meetings, and sharing with their classmates the information discussed at each meeting.
3. Extend the school/community relationship through service projects, such as our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, Senior Citizens' Luncheon in the spring, and participating in an Aquatic No Trace Left Behind program sponsored by Texas Parks and Wildlife to maintain a clean and healthy environment for plants, wildlife, and guests at Mary Jo Peckham Park.
