Bill & Cindy Haskett

Bill and Cindy Haskett.jpgBill and Cindy Haskett have deep roots, and decades of involvement in the Katy community and school district.  Bill's family moved to the Katy area in 1952.  After graduating from Katy High School in 1961, he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture in 1966, and a Master's Degree in Education in 1967 from Sam Houston State University.

Cindy attended college at North Texas State University. She received a Bachelor Degree in Education in 1972 and a Master's Degree in Counseling in 1974. After teaching math for two years in Richardson ISD, Cindy moved to Houston and taught 8th grade math and Algebra 1 for six years in Spring Branch ISD.  She then moved to Katy and married Bill in 1979. Cindy taught math at Katy Junior High from 1980 until she retired in 2005, culminating 35 years in public education.

Bill's career in education spans over 50 years, starting in Spring Branch ISD where he served from 1967 through 1978 as a teacher, counselor and assistant principal.

He returned to Katy ISD in 1978 as assistant principal at Katy High School and in 1981 became principal where he served for 15 years.

In 1996, Bill served as the director of community education and special projects, leading that effort until 2004. During these years, he also served as summer school supervisor, Katy ISD elections administrator, juvenile justice alternative education coordinator, and credit by examination coordinator.

Bill retired from Katy ISD in 2004 but continued to serve on a part-time basis in Community Education, and as the Katy ISD elections administrator until 2016.

He continued to be involved in the school community by serving on the Katy ISD Athletic Hall of Honor Committee where he was inducted as a member in 2018, and on the Katy High School Hall of Honor Committee where he was also an inductee in the first group to be recognized.

Many Katy ISD students and parents know Bill's voice well as he served as the announcer for the Katy ISD Rodeo Parade from 2008 to 2019, and is the voice of Katy Tigers football, announcing varsity games since 1986.

The Haskett's have given a lifetime of exemplary service and dedication to Katy ISD and the Katy community. Bill is known among many as a wise leader with a calming influence — a man who exemplifies the Katy ISD spirit and caring attitude. In retirement, Cindy has continued to serve as a substitute teacher and works for the election process in the annual spring School Board election.

Bill and Cindy have one daughter, Kristen Wenrich, who lives in Asia with her husband and two daughters.
