Katy Independent School District

Secondary Academic Support - Reading & Math

Instructional interventions in reading and math are provided to students through the District’s Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) framework. The purpose of MTSS  is to ensure that each student will benefit from instruction at the appropriate level of intensity to promote academic success. A Collaborative Team on each campus monitors student progress and recommends instructional interventions for students as needed.

At the secondary level, students in need of reading or math intervention receive supplemental instruction through reading or math elective courses and/or through academic advisories and instructional support periods.

If you have questions regarding the district’s intervention resources and programs, contact your child’s campus, or contact one of the district’s Secondary Instructional Officers for Intervention:

Rami Tulp, Instructional Officer for Secondary Math Intervention, 281.396.2611

Allyson Walker, Instructional Officer for Secondary Reading Intervention, 281.396.2127
