Substituting in Katy ISD

 

How to Become a Substitute in Katy ISD

Sub Blitz Sessions will be held throughout the school year. Sub Blitz invitations will be emailed to all applicants that complete online applications. The Sub Blitz invitation will be sent email one month in advance. Ensure that your online application email address is accurate as the Sub Blitz invitation will be sent to the email address listed on your online application. We thank you for your interest in substituting for Katy ISD.  

​Requirements for Substituting:

  • 60 minimum semester/quarter hours completed for Substitute Teacher positions
  • Foreign​ transcripts evaluated for U.S. equivalency
  • GED or High School Diploma for Paraprofessional positions (clerical/aide)
  • Proof of right to work in the U.S.
  • Criminal History Check
  • Interview and Skills Test​

​​Sub Blitz Registration

    •  ​Approved applicants with completed applications will receive an invitation to the Sub Blitz a month prior to the event.  Applicants with incomplete applications (incomplete transcripts, references, no certificate, etc.) will not be invited to the Sub Blitz.

September 28th August 24th - September 13th
October 26th September 21st - October 13th
January 11th November 16th - December 8th
February 8th January 4th - January 26th

 

​Online Application

    • Online applicants with complete applications (including uploaded transcripts, TX teaching certificates and/or transcript evaluations), if selected, will be emailed an invitation to the Sub Blitz.  This email will be sent approximately one month in advance of the Sub Blitz date.  If you are approved to substitute through the Sub Blitz, then you will be invited to attend a Substitute New Hire Training.
