CTE Dual Credit

CTE Dual Credit

Students have the opportunity to participate in CTE Dual Credit programs.  Students that successfully complete the programs will graduate from HCC with either a Level 1 Certificate, Level 2 Certificate, or an Associate of Arts degree.  

Katy ISD Young Educators Program (Associate of Arts in Teaching)

Students participating in the KISD Young Educators program can earn their Associate of Arts degree in Teaching (AAT) from HCC prior to high school graduation. Students will have hands-on experience working with elementary students in KISD during their Junior and Senior years. Students will participate in the HCC graduation ceremony prior to graduating from KISD and will have guaranteed admission to the University of Houston Victoria campus in Katy, where they will complete two additional years to earn their Bachelor of Arts degree in Teaching. Students who participate in the program and attend the University of Houston Victoria Katy campus will do their observation hours and student teaching in Katy ISD. Courses taken in this program will also transfer to other universities in Texas. Students who choose to attend another 4-year university outside Texas will need to verify with their chosen university on the transferability of the courses they took.  

KISD Dual Credit Medical Assisting Program 

Students in the KISD Dual Credit Medical Assisting program will earn 25 college credits from HCC. Upon successful completion of the program, students will graduate from HCC with their Level 1 Certificate in Medical Scribe.  Students will participate in the HCC graduation ceremony prior to graduating from KISD. All courses taken towards the Level 1 Certificate in Medical Scribe will transfer to the Level 2 Medical Assistant and Associate of Arts degree in Medical Assisting programs at Houston Community College. If students are planning to transfer to a 4-year university, the Medical Scribe courses taken may not transfer towards a bachelor's degree. Students will need to check with their chosen 4-year university on the transferability of the Medical Scribe courses.

KISD Real Estate Program at Raines Academy

Students in the KISD Real Estate program at Raines Academy will earn 16 college credits from HCC, receive preparation for the Real Estate License exam, and take the Real Estate License exam. Upon successful completion of the program, students will graduate from HCC with their Level 1 Certificate in Real Residential Real Estate.  Students will participate in the HCC graduation ceremony prior to graduating from KISD. If students are planning to transfer to a 4-year university, the Real Estate courses taken may not transfer towards a Bachelor's degree. Students will need to check with their chosen 4-year university on the transferability of the Real Estate courses.

Stand Alone CTE Dual Credit Courses

CTE Dual Credit offers high school students the opportunity to earn both high school and college credit simultaneously through courses aligned with Career and Technical Education pathways. These courses are taught in partnership with Houston Community College and provide students with real-world, career-focused instruction.  By participating in CTE Dual Credit, students can graduate with industry-recognized certifications, college-level experience, and a head start on their postsecondary education or workforce readiness. This program reduces the time and cost of college while preparing students with the technical and academic skills necessary for success in high-demand careers.
