Seven Lakes High School

Academic Decathlon

Welcome to the Seven Lakes High School Academic Decathlon website. Seven Lakes High School opened its doors in the 2005 - 06 school year. We look forward to another exciting school year and a successful AD season.

Academic Decathlon is a ten-event scholastic competition for teams of high school students. In the fall “scrimmage" season, all students in the program can participate in competitions. In the spring “competition" season, each school enters a team of nine students, with three Decathletes in each of the following three GPA categories: Varsity (below 3.2), Scholastic (3.2 or above and below 3.8), Honors (3.8 or greater).

The theme for the 2019-2020 Academic Decathlon® season is "WATER: An essential resource.”

The Academic Decathlon® is a team competition wherein students match their intellects with students from other schools. Students are tested in ten categories:
Art, Economics, Essay, Interview, Language and Literature, Mathematics, Music, Science, Social Science, and Speech.

Gold, Silver and Bronze medals are awarded for individual events and total scores. Winning teams advance through the local, regional, and state levels of competition. The state champions compete at the national finals.
