General Screening for the 2020-2021 Katy ISD Gifted and Talented Program:
All interested students who have not already been screened this school year for the G/T program may pick up a Parent Checklist from the Counselors' office beginning Monday, November 4, 2019.
At the secondary level, students are screened based upon specific subject matter aptitude in one or more content areas. In the screening phase of the identification process, multiple quantitative measures (standardized test scores) and qualitative measures (data gathered from parents and teachers) are examined. Students who meet district criteria for GT placement are eligible to participate in the subject area for which they qualify for the GT program. Screening is available for GT service in the areas of language arts, math, science, and social studies.
The Parent Checklist must be returned to the counseling office no later than
2:30 pm on Wednesday, December 4, 2019. Please note that this is a firm deadline.
Once all the forms are in, previous test scores will be reviewed, and a testing schedule will go home with students who need to be tested.
