Katy ISD Recognizes Enrollment of 90,000th Student ISD Recognizes Enrollment of 90,000th Student2022-03-04T21:57:17Z<div class="ExternalClassD947E1AEF9894BD7B5F771B27A67F69D"><p><span style="text-align:justify;">This week, Katy ISD reached a monumental milestone with the enrollment of its 90,000</span><sup style="text-align:justify;">th</sup><span style="text-align:justify;"> student. The student, Mayde Creek Elementary first-grader Jenna Mohamed Elshantaf, was surprised in her classroom by her family, Superintendent Ken Gregorski and other District officials. The surprise announcement also included balloons, several Katy ISD gifts and a “90,000</span><sup style="text-align:justify;">th</sup><span style="text-align:justify;"> student" t-shirt that she wore proudly. </span><br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">“When we decided to move to Texas, friends of ours told us that Katy ISD was a great school district and it had the best schools, so that's one of the reasons why we are here," said Asma Alhabahbeh, Jenna's mother. <br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">When Jenna's family moved to Texas from New Jersey, enrolling their daughter in Katy ISD was their top priority.  As the fifth-largest and one of the fastest-growing school districts in the State of Texas, Katy ISD remains a leader in educational excellence.  Its outstanding academic record, award-winning educators and staff members, as well as its commitment to providing unparalleled learning experiences continues to attract families from across the nation.   <br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">“We can't celebrate the enrollment of our 90,000<sup>th</sup> student without also recognizing the immense growth we're experiencing," said Katy ISD Superintendent Ken Gregorski.  “As families continue to move to the area, it's important that Katy ISD be prepared to serve them.  Thanks to our voter-approved 2021 Bond, the District is able to provide the facilities and resources needed to prepare all students for the future," added Gregorski.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">The District's northwest quadrant continues to experience robust growth, including large neighborhoods and commercial developments.  Katy ISD recently opened its newest junior high school, Haskett Junior High, in the area and is expected to add three additional elementary schools, one junior high, one high school and a transportation and maintenance facility in the next few years.<br></p><p style="text-align:justify;"></p><p style="text-align:justify;"><img src="/PublishingImages/90K%20student%20MCE%20(51).JPG" alt="" style="margin:5px;width:400px;height:267px;" /><br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">​<a href="">Video of 90,000 student celebration for newscasts</a> </p><p style="text-align:justify;"><a href="">Photo Gallery of 90,000 student celebration</a> <br></p><p><br></p></div>

The recognitions include various categories ranging from teaching and learning to District operations. Katy Virtual School Registration Opens Soon Virtual School Registration Opens Soon2022-01-18T21:44:16Z<div class="ExternalClass36F0F4C11A1C443C80C82BEC723D5643"><p><span style="text-align:justify;">For some Katy ISD soon to be 9</span><sup style="text-align:justify;">th</sup><span style="text-align:justify;"> through 12</span><sup style="text-align:justify;">th</sup><span style="text-align:justify;"> grade students, supplemental virtual classes are an excellent option for earning graduation credits and expanding learning opportunities.  On Tuesday, February 1, Katy Virtual School (KVS), a paid, supplemental online course program, will begin registration for the Summer 2022, Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters</span><span style="text-align:justify;">.</span><br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">“This paid, supplemental virtual model of e-learning is in high demand with our high school students because it supports graduation plans and delivers quality instruction to Katy ISD learners, outside of normal school hours," said Susan Richards, Katy ISD Instructional Technology e-Learning Manager. “KVS courses support students who need a flexible schedule to participate in programs during the school day. It's an excellent opportunity for students," added Richards.  </p><p style="text-align:justify;">KVS offers a wide range of courses from Creative Writing, AP Art History, English III, World Geography, Economics, Psychology and more. Katy ISD Memorializes Teacher Achievements with Brick Unveiling ISD Memorializes Teacher Achievements with Brick Unveiling2021-12-08T15:22:12Z<div class="ExternalClass313EFEE14C6A41A282D3F2939F5DBCBC"><p><span style="text-align:justify;">Katy Independent School District's annual tradition of celebrating the talents and dedication of its Campus Teachers of the Year continued this fall at Katy Heritage Park where the names of 143 teachers were etched into bricks that pave the site. Yesterday evening, the District and local event sponsors, hosted a brick unveiling ceremony where hundreds gathered to recognize their remarkable accomplishments.</span><br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">“We honor the achievements of these outstanding educators who have made significant contributions to our schools, students and families as they navigated COVID-19, the deep freeze and other challenges these past two years," said Dr. Ken Gregorski, Superintendent of Schools at Katy ISD.  “These teachers have shown phenomenal fortitude, perseverance, creativity, adaptability and leadership as well a sense of strength and stability in these tumultuous times," added Gregorski.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">The brick unveiling event honors not only Katy ISD Campus Teachers of the Year, but the Katy community as well. The bricks at Katy Heritage Park serve as a permanent tribute to the decades of unparalleled learning experiences provided across more than 70 Katy ISD campuses.  </p><p style="text-align:justify;">Venus Construction, Modern Pest Control and the Katy Heritage Society sponsored the occasion and provided the space for the bricklaying. Katy ISD Tops Forbes 2021 List of Best Texas Employers ISD Tops Forbes 2021 List of Best Texas Employers2021-08-27T20:45:47Z<div class="ExternalClassE2246C03C8B040FB801EF499DA701CFC"><p><span style="text-align:justify;">Katy Independent School District has once again earned a spot in the </span><em style="text-align:justify;">Forbes List of Best Employers</em><span style="text-align:justify;"> in the state of Texas, coming in at #8.  Not surprisingly, Katy ISD was also the only school district in Texas to make the Top 10 list of employers along with renowned organizations such as NASA, Dell Technologies and Southwest Airlines, to name a few. </span><br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">“From our teachers, administrators, operations and support staff, every member of the Katy ISD family strives daily to provide supportive and unparalleled learning experiences to the more than 87,000 students we serve," said Dr. Ken Gregorski, Superintendent of Schools.  “They are the best staff I have ever had the privilege to work alongside.  It is our employees that truly makes Katy ISD such a special place," added Gregorski.<br></p><p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="text-align:left;">Forbes partnered with market research company Statista to develop its third annual list of </span><em style="text-align:left;">America's Best Employers by State</em><span style="text-align:left;">.  The list is divided into 51 rankings – one for each of the 50 states, plus the District of Columbia – and was compiled by surveying 80,000 Americans working for businesses with at least 500 employees.  Surveys were conducted from October 2020 to June 2021 and were anonymous, allowing participants to freely share their opinions. </span></p><p>This is the third consecutive year that Katy ISD has made the list.  To read the full Forbes article visit <a href=""><em>America's</em> <em>Best Employers by State for 2021</em></a><em>.</em></p><p><br></p></div>
