Katy ISD Celebrates Winter GraduationKaty ISD Celebrates Winter Graduation2022-01-21T16:35:25Z<div class="ExternalClass29B60D5916C640AEB6ED3DC6E2D62914"><p><span style="text-align:justify;">High School Graduation is considered one of the most important milestones in a student's life, oftentimes described as a “rite of passage" to the next chapter in the graduate's journey.  Last night Katy ISD hosted the annual winter graduation ceremony honoring 105 seniors ready to begin the next chapter by pursuing a college or career path.  Seniors may elect to graduate mid-year for a variety of reasons and Katy ISD is proud to recognize their achievement.</span><br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">“There are a variety of reasons why seniors elect to graduate mid-year.  Mid-year graduates may desire to enter the workforce immediately, enroll in college or a technical school for the spring or join the military, said Ronnie Edwards, Assistant Superintendent for School Leadership and Support.   “Campus counselors and college & career facilitators are instrumental in advising students how to graduate mid-year if this is one of their goals" added Edwards. <br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">“Over the past two years, the Class of 2021 has faced much adversity, yet has consistently demonstrated strength and resilience," said Ashley Vann, Katy ISD Board Trustee.  “They have learned remarkable academic and life lessons, and overcome challenges culminating in moments of triumph," added Vann. <br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">Congratulations to our Class of 2021 winter graduates!<br></p><p style="text-align:justify;"><a href="https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjzzqXG">Pictures of the Winter Graduation Ceremony</a><br></p><p style="text-align:justify;"> </p><p><br></p></div>
Katy Virtual School Registration Opens SoonKaty Virtual School Registration Opens Soon2022-01-18T21:44:16Z<div class="ExternalClass36F0F4C11A1C443C80C82BEC723D5643"><p><span style="text-align:justify;">For some Katy ISD soon to be 9</span><sup style="text-align:justify;">th</sup><span style="text-align:justify;"> through 12</span><sup style="text-align:justify;">th</sup><span style="text-align:justify;"> grade students, supplemental virtual classes are an excellent option for earning graduation credits and expanding learning opportunities.  On Tuesday, February 1, Katy Virtual School (KVS), a paid, supplemental online course program, will begin registration for the Summer 2022, Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters</span><span style="text-align:justify;">.</span><br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">“This paid, supplemental virtual model of e-learning is in high demand with our high school students because it supports graduation plans and delivers quality instruction to Katy ISD learners, outside of normal school hours," said Susan Richards, Katy ISD Instructional Technology e-Learning Manager. “KVS courses support students who need a flexible schedule to participate in programs during the school day. It's an excellent opportunity for students," added Richards.  </p><p style="text-align:justify;">KVS offers a wide range of courses from Creative Writing, AP Art History, English III, World Geography, Economics, Psychology and more. Katy ISD Preview Nights Offer Inside Look into Career & Technical CareerKaty ISD Preview Nights Offer Inside Look into Career & Technical Career2022-01-10T16:58:14Z<div class="ExternalClassFAD608FFC6B64C5CBDF6D6546D1DF947"><p><span style="text-align:justify;">Katy ISD students interested in enrolling and learning about car</span><span style="text-align:justify;">eer and technical (CTE) courses, will have the opportunity to attend upcoming Preview Night events hosted by Miller Career & Technology Center (MCTC).  Due to large attendance in past years, MCTC will offer two opportunities to visit the facility.  The event for students in grades 9-11, and their parents, will take place on </span><strong style="text-align:justify;">Monday, January 31</strong><span style="text-align:justify;"> from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  The Preview Night for junior high students, and their parents, will be held on </span><strong style="text-align:justify;">Tuesday, February 22</strong><span style="text-align:justify;"> from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.</span><br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">“MCTC serves as a central site in Katy ISD for specialized CTE courses not offered at a student's home campus," said Kelley Kirila, principal of MCTC.  “Our mission is to develop college and career-ready students through engaging real-world experiences," added Kirila.<br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">Over 30 courses will be offered at MCTC during the 2022-2023 school year, covering business, industry, public service, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), as well as a new construction trades course.  Attached is additional information:<br></p><p style="text-align:center;"><img src="/PublishingImages/010322_MCTC_Preview%20Night%20Final%20Flyer.jpg" alt="" style="margin:5px;width:400px;height:518px;" /><br></p><p style="text-align:left;">Link to schedule: </p><p style="text-align:left;"><a href="/campus/MCTC/Documents/21-22%20Preview%20Night%20Info.pdf">https://www.katyisd.org/campus/MCTC/Documents/21-22%20Preview%20Night%20Info.pdf</a><br></p><p><br></p></div>
