Freda Ihediwa

Hello Gators! My name is Freda Ihediwa (E-hay-de-wa), and I am the school counselor at Mayde Creek Elementary. For the past 15 years, I have taught reading, writing, and/or math within grades 2nd-5th as a general or special education teacher. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Film & Video Studies from the University of Oklahoma, Master of Business Administration in Media Management from Metropolitan College of New York, and a Master of Science in Education from Brooklyn College. I received my School Counseling Certification from Sam Houston State University. I am also a Certified Trauma Practitioner.
My self-care time includes reading, watching movies and/or documentaries, listening to music, bike riding, taking in the beauty of nature, and traveling. I also enjoy spontaneous dancing with my husband of 16 years and two teenagers!
My Role as Your School Counselor
My heart is to build meaningful relationships with YOU-- students, parents, teachers, other staff members, and the community. By providing impactful social emotional learning, I hope to assist students with obtaining academic success and career readiness.
Services
I look forward to delivering and facilitating engaging classroom guidance lessons as well as individual and small group counseling. In addition, I will provide referrals to community resources and services and collaborate with parents and staff to develop strategies that foster the emotional and academic growth of students.
