Change of Transporation
Please remember that change of transportation notes need to have:
- Date
- Student's first and last name
- Teacher's name
- Parent's signature
Notes need to be on a ½ or full sheet of paper so they do not get lost. We do not take changes on the phone or by email and they must be in to the front office no later than 2:00.
Do you ever watch the evening news and wish you could change the world?
Here in Katy ISD, we give you an opportunity to do just that. It's called the KEYS Mentor Program. Learn more and apply to be a mentor on the Partners in Education website Or contact Martha Brown marthabrown@katyisd.org 281-396-2468

Campus Report Card
School Report Cards (SRC) are produced annually for each Texas public school campus. The reports contain some information from the Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR) as well as some information from the Accountability Rating System for Texas Public Schools and Districts. Our campus SRC can be accessed on the Texas Education Agency's website. If you have any questions, please contact campus administration. If you would like a hard copy of the report, please contact the front office who will provide a hard copy to you.
Attendance Update
As you may be aware,
the state has determined very strict attendance regulations for students in
public schools in Texas. In addition to the statute related to compulsory
attendance, a student must also be in compliance with the attendance for credit
statute which states that the student must be in attendance for at least 90% of
the days a class is offered in order to gain credit or be promoted. All
absences, excused and unexcused, are counted for the purpose of determining
attendance for credit/promotion. For each course/class in which a student
falls below the 90% threshold, a review of the record will be conducted and the
student may be required to complete a plan credit by the school in order to be promoted.
Once a student falls below the 75% attendance threshold, the campus Attendance
Review Committee will meet to develop a plan for the student in order for
promotion to be considered. Please keep this in mind when planning family
trips. Also, be aware that checking students out of school early
following a school event (i.e. Field Day, parties, etc.) is considered an
unexcused partial day absence and may negatively affect compulsory and/or
attendance for credit absence reporting.
Changes of Transportation
Please remember that our student safety measures require any changes of transportation to be communicated through handwritten documentation from parents/guardians. We are unable to take phone call requests for changes of transportation. We ask that all requests come to us at the beginning of the day and not past 3:00. Thank you for your cooperation as we take every precaution to keep our precious children safe!
Parent Drop-Off in the Morning
We use responsible students as safety patrol members to help us with opening car doors and greeting children in the morning. In order to do their work, the patrol members must step off the curb to open the doors. We know you join us in wanting to keep the patrols and the children they are assisting safe. With safety in mind, please wait until children are on the sidewalk with all car doors closed before pulling your vehicle forward in the car rider line.
Cell
Phones in School Zones
Just a
friendly reminder that it is against the law to be talking on your cell phone
while driving in a school zone. We have noticed an increase in the number of
people coming through our parent pick-up line while
talking on the phone.
Visitors
For security
reasons, ALL
visitors must register and pick up a name tag at the front office before
proceeding to any part of the building. All visitors must enter and exit
through the FRONT doors. This is an
important part of our safety and security plan. Please understand that we have
the safety of all our students in mind when we ask to see a driver’s license
when you are picking up a child or request that you put on a name tag to enter
the building. If you notice a safety concern with our building, please bring it
to the attention of the office staff or an administrator. Katy ISD uses the
Raptor tracking system.
Emergency
Contacts
“Emergency Contacts are only authorized access to information regarding
the student and authority to transport the student in an emergency situation
occurring at school when the parent/guardian cannot be reached. At any other
time, emergency
contacts have no rights regarding the student and must have a written authorization from the
parent/guardian for a specific date/time to pick up the student from
school.”
This means the people you
have listed as emergency contacts must have a note from you if they are picking
up your child for anything other than a true emergency. For example, if a
student has a doctor’s appointment and someone other than the
parent/guardian is picking them up from school for the
appointment that person must
have a note, with the date and time of the pickup, from the parent or we cannot
release the student.
If you have any
questions about who can pick up your child, please contact the attendance
office.
Dress
Code
According to
Katy ISD policy, shorts are to be no shorter than mid-thigh and may not be split
or fringed at the hem or seams. Students wearing shorts
that are too short or fringed will be calling home for a change of clothing.
Please
remember that tank tops, see-through shirts or blouses, midriff tops or clothing
with spaghetti straps are not acceptable for school wear unless worn under other
clothing.
