I graduated from Texas State University with my bachelors degree and then went on to attain my Masters at Abilene Christian University. This is my 14th year in education and my 5th year as an Administrator in Katy ISD. I believe in creating a school culture of excellence through engagement, collaboration and always keeping my students' needs at the forefront of every decision that is made. I have an incredible husband and two amazing sons. On the weekends I love going to my son's soccer games, spending time with family, a good workout, reading and learning! Howdy! My name is Hannah Weinheimer, and I am beyond excited to start my first year as counselor at Shafer Elementary! I graduated from Texas A&M University with my Master’s in Educational Psychology and my Bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies. I transferred from Cinco Ranch Junior High where I taught 6th grade science for four years and coached the cheerleading team for 2 years. In my free time, I love to spend time enjoying the beach, fishing, and being outdoors.
As a counselor, I will strive to have an open door policy where students can feel safe, loved, and supported in any situation. My goal is to be able to provide each student with individualized needs of support. My office is open to individualized counseling, group counseling, consultation, parent education classes, and curriculum guidance lessons. I also have my bachelors in elementary education from the University of New Orleans. New Orleans was were I was born and raised in addition to spreading my passion for reading in the hearts of my students. My husband and I moved to Katy 4 years ago with our two little girls. I love spending time with my family in the garden or doing anything active. I am looking forward to a wonderful year!|
Hello! My name is Monica Wascom, and I am entering into my sixth year of teaching at Shafer Elementary. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and earned my Master of Education in Teaching from Schreiner University. Since joining Katy ISD in 2007, I have worn many different hats. I am very excited to start my new position as Instructional Facilitator at Shafer. I believe that, through collaboration and problem solving, all children can learn at the highest level. I love to cook, sail, and enjoy traveling, concerts and have way too many pets! I am also addicted to audiobooks, especially authors from “Golden Age of Detective Fiction,” including Margery Allingham, Dame Agatha Christie, and Dame Ngaio Marsh.

|Hello! My name is Melanie Fulkerson. I am starting my 3rd year as the financial clerk at Shafer Elementary School. Before taking on the position of financial clerk, I was lucky enough to substitute teach exclusively at Shafer for five years! This allowed me the opportunity to get to know a lot of the students at Shafer! I was even able to watch some of them grow up from kindergarten thru 5th grade! I graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor’s in Business Management. I have two amazing children, Olivia and Trevor! Olivia will be going into 9th grade and Trevor will be going into 7th grade. I love hanging out with my family and cuddling with my dog, Conroe and two cats, Luna and Mocha. I’m looking forward to a great school year!|

I also enjoy taking care of all the students. I have been married to my husband Grant for 13 years and we have 2 daughters Reagan (12) and Morgan (5). I also have a new puppy Toby. He is an Australian Shepard. In my spare time I am either reading or riding my bike outside. I Also enjoy watching and supporting my kids in their activities outside of school.|
