Semester Exam Schedule and Information Exam Schedule and Information2022-04-26T19:28:54Z<div class="ExternalClass857A1349D48E44F0B994FBD44A6EADC3"><p>​Cardiff Parents,</p><p>Semester Exams will begin on Monday, May 23<sup>rd</sup>.  A copy of the exam week schedule is attached and posted to the campus website.  Also, teachers have the schedule posted in their classrooms, so students have the opportunity to record the schedule in their notebooks.<br><br></p><p>Please avoid scheduling any appointments that would cause a student to miss a Semester Exam.  If there will be an unavoidable, planned absence, please notify the attendance office as soon as possible. </p><p> <br>Semester Exams will not be given early.  If a student misses a Semester Exam due to an absence, he/she will have until Monday, June 13<sup>th</sup> to make-up the missed exam.  The student should talk to the teacher to make arrangements to make-up the exam or contact the school's front office if after Friday, May 27<sup>th</sup>.<br>Please encourage your student to make adequate preparations for Semester Exams.  </p><p>Thank you,<br></p><p> B. Katy ISD Recognizes Enrollment of 90,000th Student ISD Recognizes Enrollment of 90,000th Student2022-03-04T21:57:17Z<div class="ExternalClassD947E1AEF9894BD7B5F771B27A67F69D"><p><span style="text-align:justify;">This week, Katy ISD reached a monumental milestone with the enrollment of its 90,000</span><sup style="text-align:justify;">th</sup><span style="text-align:justify;"> student. The student, Mayde Creek Elementary first-grader Jenna Mohamed Elshantaf, was surprised in her classroom by her family, Superintendent Ken Gregorski and other District officials. The surprise announcement also included balloons, several Katy ISD gifts and a “90,000</span><sup style="text-align:justify;">th</sup><span style="text-align:justify;"> student" t-shirt that she wore proudly. </span><br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">“When we decided to move to Texas, friends of ours told us that Katy ISD was a great school district and it had the best schools, so that's one of the reasons why we are here," said Asma Alhabahbeh, Jenna's mother. <br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">When Jenna's family moved to Texas from New Jersey, enrolling their daughter in Katy ISD was their top priority.  As the fifth-largest and one of the fastest-growing school districts in the State of Texas, Katy ISD remains a leader in educational excellence.  Its outstanding academic record, award-winning educators and staff members, as well as its commitment to providing unparalleled learning experiences continues to attract families from across the nation.   <br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">“We can't celebrate the enrollment of our 90,000<sup>th</sup> student without also recognizing the immense growth we're experiencing," said Katy ISD Superintendent Ken Gregorski.  “As families continue to move to the area, it's important that Katy ISD be prepared to serve them.  Thanks to our voter-approved 2021 Bond, the District is able to provide the facilities and resources needed to prepare all students for the future," added Gregorski.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">The District's northwest quadrant continues to experience robust growth, including large neighborhoods and commercial developments.  Katy ISD recently opened its newest junior high school, Haskett Junior High, in the area and is expected to add three additional elementary schools, one junior high, one high school and a transportation and maintenance facility in the next few years.<br></p><p style="text-align:justify;"></p><p style="text-align:justify;"><img src="/PublishingImages/90K%20student%20MCE%20(51).JPG" alt="" style="margin:5px;width:400px;height:267px;" /><br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">​<a href="">Video of 90,000 student celebration for newscasts</a> </p><p style="text-align:justify;"><a href="">Photo Gallery of 90,000 student celebration</a> <br></p><p><br></p></div>

The recognitions include various categories ranging from teaching and learning to District operations. Katy Virtual School Registration Opens Soon Virtual School Registration Opens Soon2022-01-18T21:44:16Z<div class="ExternalClass36F0F4C11A1C443C80C82BEC723D5643"><p><span style="text-align:justify;">For some Katy ISD soon to be 9</span><sup style="text-align:justify;">th</sup><span style="text-align:justify;"> through 12</span><sup style="text-align:justify;">th</sup><span style="text-align:justify;"> grade students, supplemental virtual classes are an excellent option for earning graduation credits and expanding learning opportunities.  On Tuesday, February 1, Katy Virtual School (KVS), a paid, supplemental online course program, will begin registration for the Summer 2022, Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters</span><span style="text-align:justify;">.</span><br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">“This paid, supplemental virtual model of e-learning is in high demand with our high school students because it supports graduation plans and delivers quality instruction to Katy ISD learners, outside of normal school hours," said Susan Richards, Katy ISD Instructional Technology e-Learning Manager. “KVS courses support students who need a flexible schedule to participate in programs during the school day. It's an excellent opportunity for students," added Richards.  </p><p style="text-align:justify;">KVS offers a wide range of courses from Creative Writing, AP Art History, English III, World Geography, Economics, Psychology and more. Katy ISD Launches Spring Community Education Courses ISD Launches Spring Community Education Courses2022-01-03T20:08:19Z<div class="ExternalClass821775789D86435A892A023252EAA462"><p><span style="text-align:justify;">Have you ever wanted to learn how to play the guitar, maybe take some computer skills classes, or learn how to dance salsa?  If so, look no further!  Spring enrollment has begun for a variety of Katy Independent School District Community Education classes which aim to provide participants the opportunity to build expertise, learn a different skill or enjoy a new activity. </span><br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">With a variety of topics and options, the Community Education courses at Katy ISD provide the general public with learning opportunities that include self-improvement, enrichment, recreation, professional skills courses and best of all, an opportunity to make new friends.  Spring semester classes take place at various Katy ISD high schools during evening hours, and interested individuals can view course availability through the Katy ISD <a href="/dept/ce/Documents/Community_Education_Catalog.pdf">Community Education Spring 2022 Online Course Catalog.</a></p><p style="text-align:justify;">“For over 30 years, the Katy ISD Community Education Program has grown to include almost 2,000 participants per semester," said Karen Lewis, Director of Internal & Community Relations.  “We have found that many participants who take a course, return in following semesters to take more classes," added Lewis.<br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">​Registration is available online. Katy ISD Approves 2023-2024 Instructional Calendar ISD Approves 2023-2024 Instructional Calendar2021-12-14T15:11:31Z<div class="ExternalClassBE5366FB6ADC4E28A3343E0D452D08EC"><p>​<span style="text-align:justify;">During tonight's Katy Independent School District monthly board meeting, the Board of Trustees approved the instructional calendar for the 2023-2024 academic year.  The calendar includes the following highlights:</span><span style="text-align:justify;"> </span></p><ul style="list-style-type:disc;"><li>Wednesday, August 16, 2023:  First Day of School</li><li>Friday, May 17, 2024:  Last Day of School for Seniors</li><li>Thursday, May 23, 2024:  Last Day of School</li></ul><p style="text-align:justify;">“Every fall Katy ISD seeks community feedback for the development of future instructional calendars," said Sherri Ashorn, Discipline and SHARS Administrator.  “Through a community survey sent out in November, participants provided input indicating this calendar as the favorable option," added Ashorn.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">As a District of Innovation, authorized under House Bill 1842, Katy ISD has the flexibility to obtain exemptions from certain provisions in the Texas Education Code that allow changes to the instructional calendar.  The approved calendar also provides teachers two professional development days in August 2023 as well as five additional days of professional learning throughout the school year.  Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Martin Luther King Day, Good Friday and Memorial Day are District holidays.  Katy ISD will continue providing a full week off for Thanksgiving, two weeks for Christmas and New Year's, as well as one week off for Spring Break. <br></p><p style="text-align:center;"><img src="/PublishingImages/2023-24%20Instructional%20Calendar%20-%20Option%20A%20-%20DOI.jpg" alt="" style="margin:5px;width:600px;height:777px;" /><br></p><p style="text-align:justify;"><br></p><p><br></p></div>

Katy ISD Memorializes Teacher Achievements with Brick Unveiling ISD Memorializes Teacher Achievements with Brick Unveiling2021-12-08T15:22:12Z<div class="ExternalClass313EFEE14C6A41A282D3F2939F5DBCBC"><p><span style="text-align:justify;">Katy Independent School District's annual tradition of celebrating the talents and dedication of its Campus Teachers of the Year continued this fall at Katy Heritage Park where the names of 143 teachers were etched into bricks that pave the site. Yesterday evening, the District and local event sponsors, hosted a brick unveiling ceremony where hundreds gathered to recognize their remarkable accomplishments.</span><br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">“We honor the achievements of these outstanding educators who have made significant contributions to our schools, students and families as they navigated COVID-19, the deep freeze and other challenges these past two years," said Dr. Ken Gregorski, Superintendent of Schools at Katy ISD.  “These teachers have shown phenomenal fortitude, perseverance, creativity, adaptability and leadership as well a sense of strength and stability in these tumultuous times," added Gregorski.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">The brick unveiling event honors not only Katy ISD Campus Teachers of the Year, but the Katy community as well. The bricks at Katy Heritage Park serve as a permanent tribute to the decades of unparalleled learning experiences provided across more than 70 Katy ISD campuses.  </p><p style="text-align:justify;">Venus Construction, Modern Pest Control and the Katy Heritage Society sponsored the occasion and provided the space for the bricklaying.
