TEACHer Internship 

Candidates admitted into the Katy ISD TEA+CH Alternative Certification Program and who complete the coursework, tests, and field-based experiences successfully are guaranteed a job at a premier Katy ISD campus as a first-year teacher. This period in the classroom is referred to as an internship, which is a paid teaching assignment for one full school year which, when successful, will lead to a standard teaching certificate. Candidates will be placed in an internship teaching position at a campus with a vacant position for which the candidate is certified to teach.  Highlights of the Teacher Internship will include:

  • Full school year

  • Katy ISD premier campus

  • First year teacher pay

  • Option for benefits

  • Implement strategies and practices learned through coursework

  • Guidance of a Field Supervisor, Mentor Teacher, and Campus Administrators

  • At least 5 formal observations by the Field Supervisor

  • Katy ISD professional learning opportunities

  • Ongoing support
